Anything Goes Information Evening
Wednesday 29th May, 7.30pm,
Upstairs at Shanklin Conservative Club
The Island Savoyards’ next production is Cole Porter’s wonderful 1930’s musical Anything Goes.
Whilst Anything Goes is set in the same era as the Savoyards’ last production – Me and My Girl – it is a completely different type of show. Set on board an ocean going liner we soon meet and get to know some of the characters who are travelling on the ship and some who shouldn’t be there! What follows is comedy gold set in an almost farcical style script, with catchy melodies interwoven and of course a love story. Nearly all the musical numbers are well known – ‘Friendship’, ‘I get a kick out of You’, ‘You’d be so easy to Love’, ‘Blow Gabriel Blow’, ‘You’re the Top’, ‘It’s D’Lovely’ and of course the toe tapping title song ‘Anything Goes’. All of which are bound to have the audience humming the tunes all the way home.
I am absolutely thrilled, honoured and excited to be bringing this wonderful show to the Shanklin Theatre stage from 21st to 27th October.
Rehearsals are mainly on Mondays and Wednesdays, with a couple of Sundays nearer to show week.
Come along and find out more about the characters in the show, perhaps one of them will be you, the songs and dances they will perform, or maybe you’d be interested in being one of our wonderful singing/moving/dancing members of the ensemble. The backbone of any musical production.
There really is something for everyone in this show and details of auditions and audition material will be available at the information evening, on the website and on the Island Savoyards’ social media pages.
Key dates are:
Audition Dance Learning Evening (optional): Monday 3rd June from 7.30pm @ Ocean View Hotel, Shanklin
Auditions: Saturday 8th June in the afternoon @ Ocean View Hotel, Shanklin (timeslots to be allocated when auditionees confirmed)
So please come along on 29th May and meet me and the team and find out how you could be part of this fabulous show. There will be a chance to listen to a couple of the songs from the show and even have a taster of a bit of the movement from one of the dances.
Whether you are an existing member of ‘Savs’ or a new member wishing to join, you will be made most welcome.
I look forward to seeing you and welcoming you ‘on board’.
